A voyage to Edinburgh - A romantic intimate city wedding at the Caledonian

A Scottish intimate Wedding tale

Edinburgh is where Jon & I fell in love. It’s a special place to us both and we both always secretly hoped that we’d be fortunate enough to capture a wedding here one day.

When Kerrie & Tim asked if we’d capture their intimate family wedding in Old Reekie, how could we resist? As fellow artists and creatives, we knew whatever they dreamed up would be magical and when they asked if we could squeeze in a visit to the Scottish National Gallery, we were so excited.

We took the train up from Penzance, watching the countryside of the British isles roll past until we crossed the border into bonnie Scotland where their story unfolded.

Their whimsical & poetic wedding film

Kerrie & Tim braced themselves for rain. They planned their day around their ceremony at St Mary’s catholic cathedral followed by a quick trip to their favourite art gallery and a reception at the Caledonian - Waldorf Astoria which was overlooked by Edinburgh’s iconic castle, standing sentinel on the hill.

Despite their predictions, it was a breezy & sunlit April day with cherry blossoms drifting down from the trees at Prince’s street gardens where they took their family for some photos by the fountains. They all walked along the streets of Edinburgh together while a Piper escorted them, playing the bagpipes to the exclaims of passers by.

Here’s just a few previews of their beautiful wedding day at the Caledonian in Edinburgh. We certainly enjoyed the change of scenery and photographing Edinburgh’s ancient cobbled streets, so different from our usual rugged Cornish clifftops. The light hits differently in Edinburgh - moody, somehow. Putting together their wedding video was a treat too. It’s not every day you get to shoot in the National Gallery.

When an artist gets married, you just know it’s going to be a beautiful day and the details will be exquisite. We look forward to sharing more from Kerrie & Tim’s achingly beautiful Scottish wedding in Edinburgh. It was a dream to capture from start to finish and an honour to document such an auspicious event in our favourite city.

Congratulations Kerrie & Tim!
