A little studio in Penzance, nestled by the sea
Based in a bustling seaside town at the the far-flung reaches of Cornwall, we’re a husband and wife team who together, have been photographing weddings since 2016.
A combination of BA Creative Writing Graduate and Analogue Film Photographer & Film Maker, our love of people, their stories and our craft means that we’ve pretty much found our dream job roles.
We approach every task with sensitivity and gentleness as we prioritise our couples having the best wedding day, first and foremost. We are passionate about crafting beautiful imagery and hold our expectations of ourselves immensely high. Our goals are to consistently tell beautiful, honest stories, to value and connect with those wonderful people who let us do our dream job and always remain humble and gracious as we go.
About us
We are Sarah & Jon (and the minature curly one is Lyra)
You’ll find us where the waves are big and the winds are wild and the romantic, rugged Cornish landscape inspires all that we do. We entwine our love of folklore, nature and the arts into the medium of photo & moving image to tell those stories in a way that’s not just artful, but most importantly full of life & joy.
You’ll often find us both wandering the coast hand in hand and chasing after our spirited daughter (Lyra) whilst seeking out ways to make our lives all the more whimsy-filled, studying the magic in the everyday and how to best capture it.
Sarah dreams of one day publishing a gothic novel and Jon wants to make documentaries inspired by Cornish Culture on 16mm film. In our free time, Jon is out on the ocean rowing in pilot gigs and Sarah is swimming in a secret cove. Lyra is collecting all sorts of weird beach and forest detritus to leave around the house.
Some facts about us
We are adventure loving Cornish videographer & photographers addicted to the X-Files and good Coffee. We are all about swimming in the ocean, old libraries and moody rainy day playlists. Our perfect day is a ramble on the coastline, finding a tiny cove to explore and cooking something delicious on a camping stove after a peaceful beach-combing session and swim in the sea. In some ways, we’re polar opposites (Sarah is the extroverted, excitable one and Jon is the introverted, sensible soul always keeping things running smoothly) but we are both unanimous in our weird sense of humours and appreciation of 80’s fantasy films.
How we met
In 2016, we met in a chocolate shop in south Cornwall and immediately bonded over our shared love of photography. Sarah offered Jon a job helping her out with wedding photography and after six months of travelling all around the UK, it was an elopement trip to the Scottish highlands where we finally admitted to each other that we were a little bit in love.
