A Light & Airy Champagne & Oysters summer wedding at Roscarrock with the bride wearing Danielle Frankel Studio
Glen & JakeIf you like impeccable details, iconic designer dresses & rugged Cornish landscapes then this is the wedding to inspire you. The Cornish weather brought the drama and Glen brought together a dream team of some of our absolute industry faves to host the party of the year set in the wild grounds of the working farm, Roscarrock Manor. Think Champagne and Oyster reception by day, foot stomping cocktails & live music by night. Simple, elegant & flawless. So much breathing room for fun and frolicking - just how a wedding should be.

An atmospheric rainy summer wedding by the sea at Roscarrock Farm, Cornwall
THEIR DAY:
Glen & Jake planned their summer outdoor destination wedding for the end of August with a hazy late afternoon ceremony organised, to be performed by the brideβs father but with sideways rain and thunderous skies, last minute arrangements were made for the ceremony to take place beneath a stretch tent rather than beneath the open sky. They were from the sunny States and guests travelled in from all over the world to celebrate with them and the Cornish weather decided it was going to put on a display of all options imaginable for them, in the true fashion of British climate.
With the dramatic sea mist rolling in, Glen & Jake made their vows outdoors, just as they had planned, undeterred by the downpour (for these guys are true adventurers) which gave way to beautiful, renaissance clouds worthy of a Turner Painting for the evening portion. The emphasis for their day was on great food and the party and it wasnβt long before the crowd were really giving it beans on the dance floor and the bride and groom found themselves surfing the crowd. From Oysters & Champagne to cocktails and mirrorballs, the couple and their guests really brought the vibes and a great rainbow at dusk that appeared just for them was a paid actor.
A mix of digital & film wedding photography
They opted for a late afternoon ceremony at 4pm which isnβt something we see so often in the UK but it turned out to be a blessing as the best of the weather was truly in the evening. An outdoor BBQ kicked off the celebrations with an emphasis on getting some portraits with their nearest and dearest pre ceremony on a mix of digital and medium format.
I actually really love allowing time for family portraits pre ceremony, giving yourself extra time to get in the dress not only stops you from accidentally overrunning (Something we see alot) but getting those gentle classic portraits with parents and siblings pre ceremony gives you more breathing room post ceremony for things like eating canapes, drinking champagne and having fun. It takes the pressure off but also allows for some extremely sweet moments of anticipation shared with some extremely important guests.
The marquee interior was so dreamy - despite the rain outside, the pale golds in the colour scheme, summery french rattan furniture and floaty floral installations made it feel like the height of summer inside the marquee for the champagne and oysters reception. Hazel and her team from Out of the Ordinary weddings brought the vision and details together to perfection along with the dream team florists Emily & Becca.
The brideβs father performed the ceremony for them, with the view of the iconic coastline in the distance. Stretch tents arenβt always ideal for lighting but it really allowed them their dream of saying their vows outdoors with the view of the ocean in the distance.
The moodiness and drama of the Portra film stock here - Iβll always envy how well film balances the darks and lights where digital struggles to do so.
And then the sun came outβ¦Food that looks beautiful and tastes amazing? I think this was the first time we worked with Feeβs food and it was exceptional. Honestly writing this blog post and not including every photo of the food was hard as it was so pretty.
Not all of our clients are so bothered about late night evening coverage but this was certainly not the wedding to leave shortly after the first dance. This night was all about the party. There was some insanely good dancing and raucous mischief, spicy margaritas and crowd surfing, it was truly a great crowd and the elders were not sitting it out either.
This was our first wedding at beautiful Roscarrock and weβre excited to be back again this summer. Absolutely loved working with this iconic couple - the nicest pair you could meet and a real pair of cool cats and we look forward to seeing where their adventures take them next.
In the meantime, weβre gearing up for another wild year and excited to shoot some far flung weddings in Europe again and fingers crossed for a gorgeously hot summer (but also remembering, that even in the rain and storms, a day can still be gorgeous and fun as heck.)
