Sinead & Max’s Vale Castle summer wedding on the island of Guernsey
If you’ve been following us long enough, you’ll know what a weakness we have for an island wedding. When Sinead got in touch to ask if we’d consider capturing her Channel island wedding on Guernsey, I couldn’t say yes fast enough. Since Exeter airport hosts flights to Guernsey, it’s relatively straightforward to get to and I couldn’t wait to explore the island and capture Sinead & Max’s absolutely divine celebration at Vale Castle in St Peter’s Port.
A modern island wedding with boho touches
The bride got ready in her home and shared a reveal with her bridesmaids. As the groom was getting ready just next door, I was able to pop over to grab a few moments of him with his boys. After a reveal with the bridesmaids (Who were in an absolutely dreamy and unique pine green colour) it was off to the Catholic church for a traditional ceremony. Her reception was immaculately styled by Bonita Events who had decorated the tipi in the castle ruins with dreamy, frothy & romantic boho touches with lots of blush accents.
A Church wedding ceremony on Guernsey
After their ceremony at Our Lady Star of the Sea catholic church, we popped over to the scenic Bordeaux Harbour to capture a few portraits of them both in the afternoon sun.

Vale Castle views of the bay
I loved shooting at Vale Castle - it was such a great spot for a wedding . The place where the tipi was situated had the benefit of being sheltered by the walls of the castle but guests could wander up the ramparts and take in the breathtaking panoramic views of Guernsey, the bay and over to Sark. The venue made a great blank canvas and Bonita did such a great job of turning the sun trap into a great setting for the cocktail hour. Needless to say, the sunset views were incredible.
Couples photos up on the ramparts
Sinead & Max didn’t want to dedicate too much time to couple photos as they wanted their wedding photography to be as natural and candid as possible, focusing on the moments and capturing all of their guests. The view from the ramparts was so pretty though, I did sneak them a way for a five minute quick session overlooking the bay as the day waned so that they could benefit from the softer late afternoon light and the higher vantage point. We kept it super simple and sweet though :)
What a divine treat it was to be an island wedding photographer for the day. To meet all the fabulous island suppliers and hang out with the wonderful Imi from Bonita Events. Sinead & Max’s wedding was so much fun, that beautiful, quintessential summer afternoon vibe - overlooking the ocean with live music and great food all around. It felt like a mini holiday and I certainly made the most of my time on Guernsey, exploring the coast and nooks and crannies on the day before and after the wedding. I’m so excited to return to the island this autumn for a family home wedding on this beautiful island. I’m already planning which beaches I’ll visit whilst I’m there :)
